Art Jimmerson, Competitor At Inaugural UFC Event, Passes Away At Age 60

Art Jimmerson, one of the first fighters to ever compete in the UFC, has passed away at the age of 60.

Jimerson competed at UFC 1 against the eventual winner of the inaugural tournament Royce Gracie. A boxer, Jimmerson competed in the fight wearing only one glove and would tap out to Gracie very quickly in his first and last MMA fight.

As a boxer, he was the 1983 National Golden Gloves middleweight champion. His overall boxing career would see him have a record of 33 wins and 18 losses. His last fight took place on November 23, 2002 and was a loss to Rydell Booker

He would later be the head boxing coach at the UFC Gym in Torrance, California.
