A new UFC-based film has been announced.
Variety put out an exclusive on Thursday, February 15 and announced that Lupita Nyong’o & Chloe Grace Moretz will be starring in the new film 'Strawweight' from first-time director James M. Johnston. The UFC-based drama film will be written by Paul Harrill and produced by Square Peg, which has produced films like 'Hereditary' and 'The Northman'.
Furthermore, the outlet reports that former UFC Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas will serve as a fight consultant and a executive producer on the film.
Variety also provided a brief synopsis for the upcoming film:
The film follows the journeys of two fighters who find themselves competing against each other in the Octagon. One is a young woman (Moretz) whose life is changed forever when she discovers her passion for the UFC, while the other is a former champion (Nyong’o) who is determined to reclaim her title by reinventing herself. Both want the same thing — respect — but only one can come out on top.
