Carmelo Hayes: Bron Breakker & I’s Feud Is Beyond The NXT Title At This Point, He Wants To Hurt Me

The beef between Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker is beyond the NXT Championship.

At NXT Battleground, Carmelo Hayes will defend the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker. This will be the first match between the two since they faced off at Stand & Deliver back in April.

On the post Stand & Deliver episode of NXT, Breakker attacked Hayes in unprompted manner. In the weeks since, Breakker has found a number of ways to sneak attack Hayes or even get under the NXT Champion's skin.

In a new interview with WrestlingNews.co, Hayes noted that the feud between himself and Breakker is beyond the title at this point and that it's now just a competition to prove who is number one.

“It’s not cool and I think this is beyond the championship at this point. I said it before, he’s thrived without this championship. He doesn’t want this championship, he wants to hurt me and he wants to embarrass me in front of my friends and family. There’s a competition as to who the guy is, who’s number one and who’s number two. I always thought I was number one, he always thought he was number one. I am number one and he still thinks he’s number one, so we need to put that conversation to rest. At NXT Battleground, who the real number one is, undisputed, that’s where we’re gonna find out.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Hayes discussed not being drafted to the main roster in this year's draft. Fans can learn more here.
