Matt Hardy says he's doing what he should be doing as a free agent.
Matt Hardy entered free agency in April after his AEW contract expired. He confirmed that he was offered a new contract, and he was weighing his options. Hardy recently said that he was still interacting with AEW, but he was in no rush to make a decision.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran was asked whether he was enjoying free agency.
“Incredibly enjoying it. I’m having a great time. This might spoil me a little bit. I’m in no huge rush to sign anything to be an official employee. I’m digging what I’m doing. I had a couple signings these last couple weeks," Hardy said.
After noting that WrestleCon was “off-the-charts”, Hardy stated that he was enjoying being at home. Hardy was then asked about his teases on social media, which have come alongside vignettes and other hints at the return of Uncle Howdy. He made it clear that he has been speaking with AEW and WWE, among others.
“Yeah, I mean, full disclosure, I am doing what I should be doing as a free agent, creating hype around myself. Yes, I have been speaking with AEW constantly. I have been speaking with WWE. I have been speaking with several people across several different platforms. So I think the next couple weeks are gonna be fun, the next few weeks are gonna be fun. As I said before, I think we’re getting to the point where we’re gonna be doing some pretty cool stuff coming up. So yeah, I am doing what I should be doing. My job as a brand, and I have to look at myself as a brand, a lot of my social media stuff is Matt Hardy brand, my job as a brand is to promote myself and to create buzz around myself. I feel like I do a pretty decent job about that, pretty decent job with it, whenever I am just able to freelance and do whatever," Hardy said.
