Thiago Alves recently pulled out of the UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh co-main event bout against Mike Perry, but a replacement has been found in the form of Alex Reyes.
Perry announced the new opponent himself through Twitter:
Respect to my new opponent steppin up on 3 days notice. Let's see what you got Alex Reyes
— Platinum Mike Perry (@PlatinumPerry) September 13, 2017
Reyes (12-2-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this fight and he does so on the strength of a 12 fight winning streak. Reyes is the current King Of The Cage Lightweight Champion, defeating Quinton McCottrell to win the gold in October 2014. Reyes has only seen just one of his fourteen professional MMA fights go the distance and that bout came almost a decade ago.
Perry (10-1-0) has already earned three victories under the UFC banner, having defeated the trio of Hyun Gyu Lim, Danny Roberts and Jake Ellenberger. Perry has only seen just one of his eleven professional MMA fights go the distance, that fight was a loss to Alan Jouban at UFC On Fox 22. Perry started his professional MMA career with a nine fight winning streak and the fighter earned nine finishes during that streak.
UFC Fight Night: Pittsburgh takes place on Saturday, September 16 from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Luke Rockhold and David Branch headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
