Multi-time UFC Light Heavyweight Title challenger Alexander Gustafsson hasn’t been seen inside the Octagon since defeating Glover Teixeira by fifth round knockout at UFC Fight Night 109.
The fighter may not be stepping into the Octagon for quite some time because he recently underwent shoulder surgery.
The highly ranked 205 pounder revealed the recent surgery on Instagram.
Although Gustafsson says he cannot wait to get back into the Octagon, he hasn’t revealed just how long before a return to the Octagon could end up happening.
This injury could very well cost Gustafsson a title shot at UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, who recently stated that he could fight either Gustafsson or Ovince St. Preux after the recent arrest of Volkan Oezdemir.
Gustafsson has challenged twice before for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 192 and to Jon Jones at UFC 165.
