Aljamain Sterling has suffered an injury and has been pulled from next month’s UFC Fight Night 102, the nature of the injury hasn’t been disclosed as of now.

Raphael Assuncao, who was Sterling’s opponent on the event, is expected to remain on the card against an opponent to be announced.

Assuncao (23-5-0) has won seven of his last eight under the UFC banner, those wins have come over Johnny Eduardo, Issei Tamura, Mike Easton, Vaughan Lee, TJ Dillashaw, Pedro Munhoz and Bryan Caraway. Assuncao has only competed once in the last two years due to injury, that lone fight was a decision loss to TJ Dillashaw at UFC 200. Assuncao is currently undefeated on “fight night” cards, with five of his seven wins coming on “fight night” cards.

While the UFC is seeking an opponent for Assuncao, the requirement is that they must already be licensed to compete in the United States. The event is taking place in New York.

UFC Fight Night 102 takes place on Friday, December 9 from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York with Derrick Lewis and Shamil Abdurakhimov headlining, the entire fight card will be streaming live on UFC Fight Pass.
