Conor McGregor Admits Racial Joke Didn’t Go Over Very Well

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor just finished a four city presser tour alongside future opponent Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor made a joke on the New York City portion of the tour about being half black from the waist down, a joke he now believes didn’t go over very well.

“It didn’t really hit right,” McGregor said at a London media event. “I’m just gonna stay where it is and leave it out. I know who I am as a person. I think most realistic people can look and know.”

Mayweather earned himself a bit of controversy as well during the tour, as he used a homophobic slur against McGregor.

While there was a lot of controversy brewing during the press tour, the UFC Lightweight Champion admits there was some fun as well.

“We had fun up there as well,” McGregor said. “I didn’t need to bring certain things up. There was enough for me to have fun with. I’m not trying to put someone’s dirty business. I’m here to fight now, so fuck all that other shit.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
