Conor McGregor Declares Himself A Free Agent

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor suffered a 10th round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather in “The Money Fight.”

Now that his boxing debut is behind him, the MMA superstar has declared himself to be a free agent despite UFC's involvement in promoting his big fight with Mayweather last Saturday.

“I have many options in MMA,” McGregor told MMA Junkie. “I’m sure there’s options that will present themselves in the boxing game. Right now, I’m a free agent. My name is on the ring.”

The Irish fighter's next MMA or boxing fight isn’t known at this time, but he hasn’t competed in the UFC since becoming the UFC Lightweight Champion at UFC 205. McGregor doesn’t know what is next for him, but a good fight like “The Money Fight” would entice he to return to either boxing or MMA.

“I’ll see what’s next, but I’m open,” McGregor said. “I love a good fight, and tonight was a damn good fight. I can’t tell you exactly what’s next, but something will be next.”

A title unification fight may be next for the UFC Lightweight Champion because Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee are battling for the interim lightweight belt at UFC 216.
