Cyborg Defends Featherweight Title Against Holly Holm At UFC 219

UFC 219 finally has a championship fight and it comes in the form of a women’s featherweight title fight as Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino defends the gold against former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm.

Cyborg (18-1-0-1NC) is making the first defense of her championship, which the Brazilian won at UFC 214 after defeating Tonya Evinger by TKO. Cyborg is also a former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion and a former Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Champion, but she never lost either of those belts. Cyborg hasn’t seen one of her bouts go the distance in almost a decade and the last bout to do so came against Yoko Takahashi at Elite XC: Heat.

Holm (11-3-0) has only won just one of her last four fights and that lone win came over Bethe Correia by knockout at UFC Fight Night Singapore. Holm is also a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, defeating Ronda Rousey to win the belt at UFC 193. Holm has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Featherweight Title, losing to Germaine De Randamie by decision at UFC 208.

UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
