Cyborg Says UFC Offer Was Low For Holly Holm Fight

MMA

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino became the second ever UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion when she defeated Tonya Evinger at UFC 214.

Since that night she won the gold, the new champion has been calling for a fight with former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm at UFC 219.

However, not only was Cyborg’s upcoming meeting with the UFC canceled, but her contract offer for the Holm fight was low as well.

The champion tweeted about the situation:

At UFC 214, the new women’s featherweight champion received $200,000 from the UFC for her fight, this is according to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). There is no word at this time as to what the UFC offered Cyborg to fight Holm or even what Holm was offered for the fight.

George Prajin is the manager for Cyborg and he's stating that the UFC has yet to formally offer his client any contract for a bout with Holm.

"Emotions can run high during negotiations, but to clarify things, the UFC has not made an offer for a fight at UFC 219. We are still in talks,” Prajin said to ESPN. "Cris wants to fight Holly Holm on Dec. 30. That is what we are working towards and we are optimistic it will happen."

UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
