Germaine De Randamie became the first ever UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion when she defeated Holly Holm by decision at UFC 208.
The champion hasn't been seen or heard from since, but UFC President Dana White is promising things will start changing in that respect.
“I think we’re going to come out with something soon about that,” White said to TSN. “You’ll see. It’s coming out, (but) it’s not coming right now.”
De Randamie had been talking about getting hand surgery after winning the title, but there has been no update on that front either by the champion or anybody else for that matter.
White also says that if De Randamie is unwilling to fight Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, then he may have found a fighter who is up to task.
“‘Cyborg’ will fight this summer,” White said. “We’re looking at a couple different people. Cat Zingano was one of them.”
Cyborg had been campaigning to fight anybody at UFC 214, but an opponent and date have not been made official at this time.
Even though she hasn't fought since winning the belt a few months ago, the female featherweight queen is just one of three women’s champions in the UFC at the moment. The other two female champions in the UFC are Joanna Jedrzejczyk (strawweight) and Amanda Nunes (bantamweight).
