Boston Salmon was awarded a UFC contract on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 1 and now he is going to make his UFC debut against Augusto Mendes at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.
The bout was initially reported by MMA Today.
Salmon (6-1-0) earned a unanimous decision victory over Ricky Turcios in that episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Salmon also won five of six fights during his time in the Resurrection Fight Alliance, but his last fight in the promotion was a loss to Zac Riley at RFA 43. Salmon did go undefeated during his three fight amateur MMA career, which includes two wins in the Tuff-N-Uff promotion.
Mendes (6-2-0) has won just one of three fights under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Frankie Saenz at UFC Fight Night 103. Mendes also went undefeated during a three fight run in the Legacy Fighting Championships, with those wins coming over Richard Delfin, Evan Martinez and Donald Williams. Mendes has only seen just two of his professional MMA fights go the distance and both of those fights came during his time in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, October 28 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium with Lyoto Machida and Derek Brunson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
