UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is looking to move on from the controversy surrounding former champion Jon Jones and UFC 214.
One of the ways the champion plans on doing that is by defending the gold and he already has an opponent in mind for that next title defense.
Volkan Oezdemir is that opponent and Cormier is telling the top contender that he will set a date for his title defense.
DC made that statement through Twitter:
@volkan_oezdemir I asked and people wanna see u and I scrap. So you got it man! Let me figure a date now. They chose u bud! Congrats

Oezdemir is currently 3-0-0 under the UFC banner (15-1-0 overall) and he is currently ranked #2 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division. Those three wins that Oezdemir earned in the UFC came over Ovince St. Preux, Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa.
Oezdemir would later agree to the fight on social media.
Even though Cormier told Oezdemir that he will set a date, neither Oezdemir or the UFC has gotten a date set for the fight, and their light heavyweight situation definitely needs some more clarity after Jon Jones' drug situation.
