Demetrious Johnson Explains Why He Turned Down Dillashaw Fight

UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson is just one successful title defense away from breaking the most title defenses in a row record held by former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

The champion recently tuned down the opportunity to fight former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw and in a very brief statement, explains why.

“It’s just the principle of a bantamweight coming down and skipping the line,” Johnson said on The MMA Hour.

Johnson has also rallied against the UFC recently, releasing a long statement to the public outlining his issues with the promotion.

“Mighty Mouse” also wonders why he gets treated the way he does, especially when the UFC’s other big stars are nowhere to be found.

“Look what Conor is doing now,” Johnson said. “Conor isn’t even in the sport of mixed martial arts, technically. He’s a champ and he’s not even ready to defend his belt. Where’s Ronda at? Exactly — nobody knows. Where’s my black ass at? I’m still out here trying to defend my title, I’m still trying to represent this company as the greatest combat sport on the planet Earth.”

It was at UFC On Fox 24 where fans last saw Johnson in the Octagon, as he successfully defended the flyweight title against Wilson Reis.
