Exclusive: Shorty Torres Says UFC Told Him To Give Them A Call After Next Title Fight

MMA

Jose" Shorty" Torres has made a major impression in his five fights in Titan FC, and looks to retain his Bantamweight Championship tonight at Titan FC 46.

Torres has spoken to Fightful.com in the past about how he's had near misses as it pertains to being signed by the UFC, but his opponent Friday night in Gleison DeJesus told us that he thinks a win over the double champion Torres not only gains him gold, but a call from the UFC as well.

According to Torres himself -- who is actually blocked on Twitter by a UFC matchmaker -- doesn't think that it will be that simple.

"I don't know if it will get him the immediate call, but it'll put him on the radar. I'm number one in the U.S. and number 6 in the world outside of the UFC. If I win, I think I'll be bumped up. If he wins it gives him a belt and puts him on the radar," said Torres.

For Torres, he claims the UFC is right around the corner.

"Mick Maynard blocked me on social media, I'm annoying, I know. They contacted me before this fight and said 'When you win this fight, give us a call, we'll figure something out.' I personally want to fight December 30th and make up for lost time," said Torres.

You can see the full interview above, which features Torres talking about his training partners as compared to DeJesus, what he expects out of the fight and more.
