Gabi Garcia will be making her fourth appearance in the Rizin ring this coming December at Rizin 4 when she takes on 52-year-old former pro wrestler Kandori Shinobu.
Garcia (3-0-0) has fought all three of her professional MMA fights in Rizin, her last bout saw her defeat former female pro football player Destanie Yarbrough by submission. Garcia has already fought a pro wrestler once since turning pro in late 2015, as she defeated Seni Draughn by first round TKO. Draughn is better known as former TNA Knockout Lei D’ Tapa. Garcia came to prominence as a BJJ coach for Wanderlei Silva’s team on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil.
Shinobu (4-1-0) has not competed in a professional MMA fight in over sixteen years, she is also a former six time champion in pro wrestling (x1 WWWA World Heavyweight Champion, x1 Pacific Coast Tag Team Champion, x1 UWA World Women’s Champion, x2 LLPW Singles Champion & x1 LLPW Tag Team Champion). Shinobu did make it to the finals of the LLPW (MMA) Ultimate L-1 Tournament, but lost to Svetlana Goundarenko in the finals. None of Shinobu’s professional MMA fights went past the first round, her longest pro MMA fight lasted nearly eight minutes.
Rizin 4 takes place on Saturday, December 31 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with no main event announced at this time.
