The UFC has pulled the bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone from the card for tomorrow's UFC 205 pay-per-view in Madison Square Garden, after Gastelum missed weight on Friday morning.
Scheduled to fight in the welterweight (170 pound) division, Cerrone weighed in at 170.4 pounds but Gastelum missed weight. There was no official word how much Gastelum was over the 170 weight limit, but Sports Illustrated reported that Gastelum reportedly was about 180 pounds and did not weigh in because he would not be within 5 pounds of Cerrone.
Gastelum posted a Tweet apologizing to Cerrone:
The Gastelum-Cerrone fight was scheduled as part of the main card for UFC 205, which is historic for the promotion as it is the first UFC event in New York since the state legalized professional mixed martial arts.
Cerrone will still receive his show money, according to a tweet by Ariel Helwani.
Gastelum (13-2-0) and Cerrone (31-7-1 NC) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the latest UFC contender rankings in the welterweight division.
This marked the third time that Gastelum has missed weight for the UFC for a welterweight fight.
