Alessandro Ricci is currently winless under the UFC banner and he will be facing Paul Felder in a lightweight division fight at UFC Fight Night 105.
Ricci has plenty of goals he wants to achieve throughout his professional MMA career, but there is only one at the top of the list.
“I want to dominate this sport,” Ricci told MMA Junkie Radio. “I really want to take over this sport. I want to climb up the rankings and I want to go after that title. I’m very excited, and this is an opportunity that I’ve been waiting for for a long time. Now that I’m in this show, I want to fight the top guys. I want to work my way up the rankings and beat these guys – that’s why I’m here.”
Felder is primarily known as a striker, but Ricci knows that he’s comfortable wherever the fight winds up.
“I’m a flow fighter, so I take it wherever the fight goes,” Ricci said. “I’m able to fight standing up, or on the ground – it really doesn’t matter for me. For me, it’s about just winning the position every single time and dominating and not allowing my opponent to dictate where he wants to bring the fight. It’s my octagon, it’s my world when I step into that cage. And it doesn’t matter who I go up against, because it’s all about me. My coach has trained me to fight anybody – it doesn’t really matter. Even if Paul Felder falls out and they have a last-minute opponent, it really doesn’t matter. My focus is all on me.”
UFC Fight Night 105 takes place on Sunday, February 19 from the Scotiabank Center in halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne headlining.
