A middleweight division bout has been added to UFC Fight Night London as Charles Byrd faces John Phillips, it was the BBC that first reported the contest.
Byrd (9-4-0) is making his UFC debut in this fight and does so on the strength of a three bout winning streak. Byrd has competed twice on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series, earning victories on episode one and episode six. Byrd hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost three years, with his last loss coming to UFC fighter Bojan Velickovic at AXS TV Fights: RFA vs. Legacy Super Fight.
Phillips (21-6-0-1NC) is also making his UFC debut in this fight and the competitor hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost five years. Phillips also returns to action for the first time in over a year, but his winning streak does include a win over UFC veteran Charlie Ward. Phillips also fought a total of four times under the Cage Warriors banner, winning two of those fights.
UFC Fight Night London takes place on Saturday, March 17 from the 02 Arena in London, England with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with broadcast plans yet to be announced.
