Cody Pfister Wants To Start MMA Promotion

UFC veteran Cody Pfister will be making his Bellator MMA debut this Friday Night against Jonathan Gary at Bellator 174. Pfister, who doesn’t plan of fighting forever, has plans to start his own MMA promotion down the line.

“Hopefully, I can turn it into something that will be worth a lot financially, but I also feel I’ll be a good matchmaker,” he said to MMA Junkie. “I know how to take care of the fighters. I’m going to pay them what their worth. Having been on the other side, I think I’ll do things a little differently.”

The UFC veteran only earned a single win in the promotion, and may be most remembered for fighting Sage Northcutt at UFC Fight Night 80. While his promotion is something on his mind, Pfister hasn’t figured out yet if he will fight at the same time he’s running it.

“We’ll worry about that in the future,” Pfister said. “My business partners are going to handle a lot of that stuff. I’ll do the matchmaking, so it’s not going to affect my career.”

Bellator 174 takes place on Friday, March 3 from the Winstar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma with Marloes Coenen and Julia Budd headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event.
