A fight years in the making is set to headline UFC 272.
According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto via the UFC's CBO Hunter Campbell, teammates turned foes will collide when interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington faces BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 272 on March 5.
Covington (16-3) is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to current 170-pound king, Kamaru Usman at UFC 268 this past November, his second-loss to 'The Nigerian Nightmare'. The 33-year-old's last win came against former champion Tyron Woodley in September 2021.
Masvidal (35-15) also lost to the aforementioned Usman in his last bout, getting knocked out by the champion in the main event of UFC 261 this past April.
UFC 272 takes place on Saturday, March 5 and emanates from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
