Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is arguably one of the most popular athletes in mixed martial arts history.
McGregor, who hasn’t competed since defeating Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246, came in at #16 in the Forbes highest paid athletes list for 2020, earning $48 million. The Forbes list states that McGregor made $16 million through endorsements and $32 million through salary/winnings. The list also reveals that the coronavirus pandemic affected the salaries of everybody on the top 100 list.
The fifteen athletes ranked ahead of McGregor are Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Tiger Woods, Kirk Cousins, Carson Wentz, Tyson Fury, Russell Westbrook, Lewis Hamilton, Rory McIlroy and Jared Goff.
There were no other MMA fighters on the list outside of the former two division UFC champion. There has also been no comment from McGregor at this time about his inclusion on the list.
