Cristiane Justino still wants to fight Ronda Rousey.
Justino, known as Cris Cyborg, talked to MMA Junkie recently. The Invicta Featherweight Champion is ready and willing to fight any of the top 10 ranked women signed to the UFC’s 135-pound roster, according to the site. But although she respects all the girls, Rousey is really who she wants.
“I believe there’s a ‘novela’ (Brazilian soap opera) between Ronda and I that we need to finish. I think that’s a fight everyone wants to watch,” Cyborg said. “I think they ask the same (questions) to her. I think everywhere, they ask the same thing. That’s why I think this fight needs to happen. So that we can finish our careers saying we did that great fight and not that we should have done that fight. We did it. So let’s wait. If she takes that initiative. It’s up to her.”
The interest for the fight still remains for Cyborg (16-1, 1 NC). But the 31 year old, Curitiba, Brazil native seems to be putting the pressure and choice on Rousey. The first and now former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion has been quiet since November 2015, when she lost her title and first UFC fight to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
“I think after that Holly fight, she’s still trying to reorganize; I don’t know if she’s back to training,” Cyborg said. “Losses can happen for any athlete. That’s sports. One day you win, and the next you lose. But you need to know how to deal with that.
Rousey (12-1) holds the eight longest title reign in UFC history at 1,074 days. During that span, she defended her title six times. Currently, she does not have a fight scheduled.
Cyborg will fight Lina Lansberg (6-1 MMA) at UFC Fight Night 95 on Sept. 24. It will be Lasnberg’s first fight in the UFC.
