UFC President Dana White and former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor have had a pretty good relationship over the years.
The UFC President is so fond of the Irishman that he refers to the fighter as “my Ali, my Tyson.”
“He’s my Ali. He’s my Tyson. He burst onto the scene and I knew the minute I sat down and had dinner with him that this kid was going to be a star. I didn’t know if he’d be able to fight and I didn’t know if he’d be able to win a title, but I knew he was going to be a star,” said during an interview with Fox News.
McGregor has made the UFC a lot of money over the years, including competing in some of the promotions biggest events, such as UFC 194, UFC 202 and UFC 205. White even accompanied McGregor during the media tour to promote The Money Fight between the UFC star and a now retired Floyd Mayweather.
UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
