Dana White Has "Definitely Thought About" A UFC Women's Atomweight Division

There are currently four women’s divisions in the UFC and Dana White has been thinking about adding a fifth.

White recently revealed that he has thought about adding a women’s atomweight division to the UFC.

“I have thought about it. This isn’t the year to do it; definitely not the year to do it,” White said at the UFC 255 post-fight press conference (via Thomas Albano of FanSided). “[But] I’ve definitely kicked it around.”

If the women’s atomweight division is eventually added to the UFC, it would join other women’s divisions like strawweight, flyweight, bantamweight and featherweight.

No word has been given yet from the UFC as to how they would crown as women’s atomweight champion, as the strawweight and flyweight champions were crowned through the Ultimate Fighter, while Ronda Rousey was named the first UFC women’s bantamweight champion after the UFC purchased Strikeforce and a featherweight champion was crowned in a bout between Germaine De Randamie and Holly Holm at UFC 208.
