White has previously stated his intentions to meet with Mayweather, something that appeared to be delayed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Mayweather and Sakakibara have also done business in the past, fighting and beating kickboxing stand-out Tenshin Nasukawa in a three-round exhibition boxing match.

Mayweather is currently preparing for an exhibition boxing match with YouTuber and winless professional boxer Logan Paul. The UFC will hosts its next event on Saturday, April 10 when Marvin Vettori and Kevin Holland square off. Rizin 28 – Tokyo is scheduled for May 23 at the Tokyo Dome.
