However, said meeting never happened and White is now looking to meet with the UFC star in Los Angeles.
“I was supposed to meet with him down here; we’re going to meet in LA instead,” White said at the UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale post-fight press conference (via MMA Junkie).
No reason has been given by White as to why the meeting never happened, while McGregor has yet to comment on that potential meet up.
McGregor has been dealing with a host of outside the Octagon issues as of late, including the legal drama surrounding the destruction of a cellphone and being investigated for a possible sexual assault in Ireland. McGregor recently competed in an boxing exhibition in Ireland, but hasn’t competed in the Octagon since a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
The former two division UFC champion recently finished up a six month suspension for his role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, leaving McGregor free and clear to compete in the Octagon again.
