Dana White Sees Conor McGregor Competing This Summer

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor hasn’t competed since a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

UFC President Dana White is expecting to meet with McGregor soon and he sees the fighter returning to action this summer.

“He and I are getting together very soon within the next week and we’re going to figure out what next for him and I see him fighting this summer,” White said on The Jim Rome Show (via MMA Junkie).

White and McGregor were supposed to meet over a week ago in Miami, but that never came to fruition.

The UFC President also sees Donald Cerrone as a potential opponent for McGregor when he does return to action.

“This Cerrone fight makes sense, there’s a couple different options out there for him,” White said. “He was talking about the Cerrone fight at one point. I don’t really know but that fight makes sense.”

Cerrone was last seen in action in the main event of UFC Fight Night Ottawa, defeating Al Iaquinta by way of unanimous decision. Cerrone did call out McGregor after the fight, while also laying claim to a shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship that is held by the aforementioned Nurmagomedov.
