A huge middleweight division clash could be heading our way in 2018 as Derek Brunson and former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo Souza have agreed to fight each other.
Both Souza and Brunson made the announcement via Twitter:
UFC offered me Derek Brunson to fight on February 3rd at UFC FN 125, Belem do Para, Brazil. I already agreed to fight on Belem do Para, Brazil, now is up to Derek Brunson, I hope he doesn't come up with escuses about the location and date of event. @ufc

That’s weird . I accepted for Jan 27 in Charlotte, NC. I’ll be in touch after this weekend’s fight! See you in NC. https://t.co/IrA88q4kEu

While the two did agree to a bout, the things they seemingly cannot agree on are the date and location for the proposed bout. Souza would like the fight to happen at UFC Fight Night Belem on February 3, while Brunson wants the fight for UFC On Fox 27 on January 27.
Souza hasn’t competed since UFC On Fox 24, where he was defeated by UFC Interim Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker. Brunson last headlined UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo and he defeated former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida on that evening.
The UFC has yet to confirm if the fighters were actually offered the bout and which location the fight was offered at.
