Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos competed in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Wichita, defeating Curtis Millender by first round submission.
If the fighter has his way, whomever Dos Santos faces next would be ranked in the top five of the welterweight division.
“The big thing is I already asked for opponents before, and never got them,” Santos told MMA Junkie. “Give me a top-five opponent and let me rise up the ranks. That’s all I ask. Rio is right around the corner. I didn’t get hurt. Let me fight in Rio against someone who’s ranked.”
Dos Santos has competed a total of eight times in the UFC, but he has yet to face top five ranked opposition.
The surging welterweight contender also realizes that extra work is needed if he wants to continue rising up the ranks.
“In the end, the work that I need to do is in the octagon,” he said. “The rest is just extra. If I have a little bit extra to do, I don’t mind. But the biggest thing is making sure I go in there, do my job, get the finish, and get my hand raised.”
Currently ranked in the top five of the UFC Welterweight Division is (in order) Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington, Darren Till, Stephen Thompson and Rafael Dos Anjos.
