Enrique Barzola Wants Ricardo Lamas Next

Enrique Barzola was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 220, defeating late notice opponent Matt Bessette by unanimous decision.

A victorious Barzola is ready for the next UFC bout and he would like it to come against top ranked featherweight Ricardo Lamas.

“It depends on the UFC,” Barzola said backstage after his fight. “We will take any fighter that gets put in front (of us). It’s up to Sean Shelby. I’ve always wanted to fight Ricardo Lamas.”

Lamas was last seen in the co-main event of UFC On Fox 26, suffering a first round knockout last to Josh Emmett.

There is no time frame for when the potential bout could happen, but the rising prospect in Barzola isn’t exactly in a rush to get things done.

“It’s not like I’m in a rush,” Barzola said. “It’s a process.”

If Lamas were to take the fight against Barzola, a surging Barzola would be the second straight unranked fighter that Lamas has fought in as many fights. Neither Lamas or the UFC have responded to the request made by the featherweight prospect.
