Exclusive: WWE Currently Has No Plans For Conor McGregor Appearance

If you were holding out hope for a Conor McGregor - WWE crossover, it doesn't appear to be happening soon.

Pro wrestling has no shortage of crossover stars from the UFC. Matt Riddle, Tom Lawlor, Josh Barnett and Seth Petruzelli are all active on the independent circuit, Shayna Baszler is signed to WWE's NXT brand, and Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke have both been training. However, Conor McGregor isn't poised for a WWE appearance, at least not yet.

Jon Jones Says Interim UFC Heavyweight Title Has Confused People And Should Not Have Been Made

Multiple sources within WWE confirmed to Fightful this week that Vince McMahon personally has no plans set for the UFC Lightweight Champion in the company. The idea has been pitched multiple times, but McMahon has refused to commit to it. It's worth noting that due to that, no real line of communication has been established between WWE and McGregor. We're told the Chairman is open to the possibility down the line.

In the past, McGregor has railed against WWE, calling WWE Superstars "pussies." When asked last week about a potential appearance in the WWE, he simply said "f-ck WWE!"

One source told us that if McGregor and WWE were to reach a deal, they'd likely want him to continue the same line of dialogue he has in the past about the company, as it'd be a major heat magnet for him that could be played up on WWE television. The source also said that if WWE wants to attempt to go that route, they're likely to contact the UFC to ask their blessing.

McGregor did return to MMA training recently, as discussed on this week's Holy Smokes MMA Podcast.

Fightful.com will have more on the story on Wednesday's List and Ya Boy Podcast at 3 PM EST.
