Sarah Kaufman only fought four times over two years in the UFC, and only won one of those, but due to a strong performance outside the Octagon, she could be heading back soon.
Kaufman missed over a year of action after her last UFC fight, before returning to the MMA cage last year and reeling off three victories. Now that she's won three in a row and captured the Invicta FC Bantamweight Championship, Kaufman tells Fightful.com's James Lynch that she has been talking with the UFC about a possible return.
"The team at SuckerPunch has been contacting UFC. There's been a lot of back and forth, but nothing's come to fruition yet. I'm staying ready. I'd like them to book more bantamweight fights so when someone comes out, I'm the next one to step in. I'm always getting better in the gym. Even if you don't see me in the cage, I'm making myself more dangerous in the cage. People already say no to fighting me," said Kaufman.
With UFC announcing a card for later this year on pay-per-view in Canada, Kaufman wants to be on the card, and wants to carry the torch for her home country.
"I want to be the Canadian that's on the card at bantamweight for sure. People called me the "Queen of Canada for MMA" and I never really wanted that title and now I want to be that for the Canadian fans," said Kaufman.
