Aspen Ladd is back in the cage at UFC 229, where she is in action against former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Tonya Evinger.
There aren’t a lot of fighters who are jumping at the opportunity to fight Evinger, but Ladd snatched up the opportunity when it arose.
“I was basically just watching the fights and as soon as her opponent dropped out, we called to take it and then they (the UFC) decided to move it to the states. We got lucky with the fight date,” says Ladd in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Ladd had originally accepted a short notice opportunity to fight Evinger at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo, but it was the UFC’s call to move the bout to UFC 229.
If there is one thing Ladd is expecting at UFC 229, its for both herself and Evinger to be handling their business in the middle of the Octagon.
“I think she’s gonna come forward and we’ll end up meeting in the middle and we’re going to see who’s a little bit better at grinding,” says Ladd.
UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 3 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
