Freddie Roach Believes Ronda Rousey Should Retire

Ever since suffering a lopsided 48 second defeat to UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, there have been varying opinions on what the former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey should be doing next.

Freddie Roach, arguably one of the greatest boxing trainers of all time, believes that Rousey should announce her retirement.

“She’s correct (about Rousey’s mom saying she should retire),” Roach said to TMZ Sports.

Roach believes that that one of the biggest reasons behind Rousey’s defeat was the fact there her stand up game is just not very good.

“Muay Thai is a stand-up fight game also. Muay Thai can g to the ground, but mostly it’s stand-up and she doesn’t do well with stand-up. Everyone has her number now,” said Roach.

When asked about his take on the fight as a whole, Roach didn’t have too much to say other than Rousey suffered a beating.

“(It was) 48 seconds of a beating, but that’s the fight game,” said Roach.

Rousey has yet to comment on her future in the sport, she’s currently riding a two fight losing streak, the other loss came to Holly Holm by knockout at UFC 193 in November of 2015.
