UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili defeated former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of UFC 248

The bout has widely been considered an instant classic and one of the best in all of MMA history, but there was one UFC fighter who wasn’t too impressed. That fighter is UFC competitor Islam Makhachev, who wrote the following in a now deleted Twitter post (via RT.com):

Colby Covington Explains How Fight With Joaquin Buckley Came About

"This is not a woman's sport."

That tweet incited a firestorm on Twitter, with a lot of fans coming to the defense of women’s MMA, while also blasting Makhachev as well.

Some of the responses to what Makhachev tweeted include:

"Not a misogynist sport, speak again when you can put out a fight like that one."

"Is that why both those women are more badass than you?"

"You have never and could never put on a fight this great."

"That fight was more entertaining than your entire career. Shut the f*ck up."

There has been no response yet from Makhachev since he deleted the controversial tweet, but he returns to action next month at UFC 249, facing Alexander Hernandez in a lightweight division attraction
