If you’re a fan of wrestling, you may have heard one name being bounced around in rumour circles as to whether he could be the next big star in the WWE, and that is the name of Jacob Fatu. If you’re wondering who he is, he’s a second-generation wrestler who has recently started making headlines as he looks to make his name known following his move to the WWE in April of this year. He is 32 years old and hails from San Francisco, California. He is already well known within the boxing world, coming from the Anoa'i family of wrestlers. We mentioned that he is a second-generation wrestler, with his dad being Sam Fatu and his uncle also being former WWE star Rikishi. And now that he is in the WWE, you can even back him on WWE betting if you are a fan.
Humble beginnings
His career began back in 2012, when he made his professional wrestling debut, resulting in a win for the first time in the ring. He made his first major move when he signed for Major League Wrestling in 2019. A league that he spent five years in prior to his move to the WWE. Now if you have a bit of background on who he is, if you didn’t know already, why is he being linked to being the next big star in the WWE? Well, that’s what we’re going to look at today. He certainly has the pedigree there from his relatives who have been and are still in the industry to make it big but why is he making headlines lately? Is it because he is related to some big names in the industry or another reason?
Where has he been all this time?
So why has it taken him so long to join the WWE if he has been a big name in the wrestling arena for years now? Well, a lot of people suspect it has to do with his criminal history. He was arrested for armed robbery when he was 18; however, following this and seeing his cousins on a jail TV programme, he managed to turn his life around and two years later he began his boxing career and now he is one of the rising stars in the biggest wrestling league in the world. The former WWE ownership wasn’t as strict on wrestlers who had a criminal history; however, the new ownership has a different outlook and perspective on it and although nothing has been confirmed, it is suspected that this played a part in the delay.
A former world champion
As well as having wrestling in his genes, he has already demonstrated he has what it takes to become a champion, having been a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion. And so he has already proven himself prior to joining the WWE in April. He has already made his debut within the WWE by forming an alliance with The Bloodline,, who faced off Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens in what was a very entraining episode of Smackdown. And so he has certainly made the right first impression that he was hoping for and it’s going to be really exciting to see the role that he plays going forward in this story that he has gotten himself involved in.
In Summary
Hopefully today has given you a bit more insight into who exactly Fatu is, a bit more of his personal and professional background, what the future looks like when it comes to his professional boxing career and what we have to look forward to.
