It was a familiar sight at UFC 237.
Jared Cannonier did what he needed to do against Anderson Silva at UFC 237, stopping the MMA legend with a brutal leg kick in the first round. Cannonier had been working the inside leg kick throughout the round and one final kick, right to the inside knee of Silva, sent "The Spider" down in a heap. Silva collapsing in pain from a kick gave MMA fans immediate flashbacks to when his leg snapped against Chris Weidman at UFC 168. On that night, Silva was the one throwing a kick, which was checked by Weidman. At UFC 237, Cannonier was simply implementing his game plan, trying to take away some of the movement of Anderson with inside leg kicks.
Damn. Silva hurt his knee eating that kick. Underwhelming finish to the fight. #ufc237 pic.twitter.com/O91YONtGbD

After the fight, Silva revealed that he came into the fight with a knee injury and it simply couldn't hold up after the kicks from Cannonier. The fans in Brazil showed Cannonier no respect after the fight, booing him during his post-fight promo, not allowing him to get a word in. To Silva's credit, he was all class and embraced Cannonier.
