Jennifer Maia Believes She Should Get The Next UFC Women’s Flyweight Title Shot

Jennifer Maia last competed on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night San Antonio, defeating Roxanne Modafferi by unanimous decision.

One thing Maia believes is that the win over Modafferi should give her the next shot at the UFC Women’s Flyweight Title.

“I fought some of the best in the category, and I want to be the champion, and I want to fight for the title,” Maia said after the event (via Farah Hannoun & John Morgan of MMA Junkie).

Maia has won two of three under the UFC banner, with that other victory coming against Alexis Davis at UFC Fight Night Nashville.

A victorious Maia did miss weight for the bout in San Antonio, but promises that it will never happen again.

“It was something that has never happened to me before, and it was on the final stage of my weight loss,” Maia said. “It’s something that made me very mad, and it’s never going to happen again.”

Valentina Shevchenko is the current UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion and is defending the gold against Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC Fight Night Uruguay.
