Even since the loss, a defeated Cruz has gone on the warpath against referee Keith Peterson, accusing the fight official of smelling like cigarettes and alcohol to alleging that he was “hammered” and was seen that way by fellow UFC fighter Jeremy Stephens.
Nobody has really stepped up in defense of Peterson until now, because UFC commentator Jon Anik has done so via the following statement on Twitter:
Dominick Cruz is one of my most cherished friends. That said, I have so much respect for MMA referee Keith Peterson and his track record as one of the best in the business. It's fair to question the stoppage, but I do not like to see his character getting assassinated. #UFC249

Peterson has stayed silent since the accusations were levied against him by Cruz, while Cruz has continuously taken shots at the referee.
