Jose Ramirez vs. Viktor Postol Postponed Again Due To Coronavirus

As expected, Top Rank Boxing has postponed the upcoming May 9 show from Fresno, California.

The promotional company announced that the May 9 show from the Save Mart Center in Fresno has been postponed to a later date in the same venue due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The card was going to be headlined by Jose Ramirez vs. Viktor Postol for the unified WBO and WBC junior welterweight world titles.

This is the second time the bout has moved dates as a result of the coronavirus. The fight was pegged for February 2 (February 1 in the United States) in China, but it was moved elsewhere just days before the card. This would have been Ramirez's first fight since unifying the WBO and WBC titles last July with a TKO win over Maurice Hooker.

With this announcement, all major boxing shows in the United States and United Kingdom have been either postponed, re-scheduled or canceled entirely through May while all boxing cards in Japan through mid-May have been called off. Top Rank, Golden Boy Promotions, Matchroom Boxing, PBC, Queensberry Promotions are just a few of many boxing entities to have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The only major show that is scheduled through the next eight weeks is the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight finals between Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos in Latvia on May 16. That fight was also originally going to take place on March 21.
