Josh Grispi, who was arrested in August of 2014 for domestic violence against his wife Kaitlyn, will compete for the first time in six-plus years according to MMA Junkie when he faces WSOF veteran Bruce Boyington for the vacant featherweight title at New England Fights 42 next year.
The UFC veteran was arrested in August of 2014 after reportedly giving his wife a vicious beating and even had their dog attack her. Kaitlyn, bloodied and half naked after the attack, would run to a neighbors house and that’s when the authorities were called. A police officer who took part in the case called it “the worst case of domestic abuse I’ve ever seen.”
Police would discover a pot farm at the Grispi’s home, as well as numerous guns and ammunition next to the couple’s one year old child.
Grispi would go through a trial in 2017 and was found guilty of seven counts of Improper Storage of a Firearm, five counts of Assault and Battery, two counts of Threat to Commit a Crime, eight counts of Intimidating a Witness, one count of Possession to Distribute Class D, Marijuana, one count of Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle and one count of Attempt to Procure Perjury. The fighter would be sentenced to a five and a half in the House Of Corrections and another five years of probation.
It has been nearly a decade since Grispi won a professional MMA fight, with that last win coming over LC Davis at WEC 49 in June of 2010.
