Lando Vannata was last seen in action in the co-main event of UFC 234, defeating Marcos Rosa Mariano by first round submission.
That was Vannata’s first win since December of 2016 and the fighter knows who he wants to get the next victory against, with that person being Nik Lentz.
“Unfortunately I guess he (Jim Miller) was already booked for another fight that got announced two weeks after my fight. Now I’m trying to get Nik Lentz for International Fight Week,” Vannata said on Pull No Punches (via Shakiel Mahjouri of Bloody Elbow). “I watched him and Scott Holtzman. He has a decent name and he is a great fighter. I think that would be an awesome, awesome fight. Really fun... That is what my sights are aimed on.”
Lentz last competed at UFC Fight Night Phoenix, defeating Scott Holtzman by unanimous decision.
Vannata says the last win may have come over an unknown opponent in many circles, but that’s because the fighter felt he didn’t deserve a big name foe.
“I was coming off two losses and two draws. It is not like I deserved high-profile fights,” he said. “I deserved bottom of the barrel opponents... Not to say Mariano does not have a good skill set... it’s not like he was some bum they threw at me.”
There has been no word yet as to whether or not Lentz has accepted the challenge from Vannata.
