In a stunning turn of events at the 2025 Men’s WWE Royal Rumble, Logan Paul surprisingly eliminated CM Punk, earning himself a spot in the final three.
The “Best In The World” was briefly distracted after eliminating Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, which gave Paul the perfect opportunity to toss him over the top rope.
The fans were shocked, as CM Punk was the favorite to win in this packed tournament.
Online betting platforms that accept crypto saw a big surge of wagers placed on him before the event. This form of wagering became increasingly popular among wrestling fans, especially due to fast payouts and special promotions some casinos offer for big events like Royal Rumble.
Besides Punk, John Cena was also among the favorites to win according to the betting odds. He was the one to eliminate Paul, leaving him and Jey Uso to wrestle for the victory.
When it looked like Cena could win his third Royal Rumble, Uso managed to jump back into the ring and push him out. The victory earned him the right to call himself the new people’s champ.
Going back to Paul’s elimination of CM Punk, “The Maverick” revealed that he had some extra motivation to get Punk out of the ring.
In his YouTube Royal Rumble blog, Paul and his videographer, Kevin, talked about an interaction Kevin had with CM Punk the day before the Rumble.
He explained that Punk kicked Kevin out of an elevator in the hotel where they were staying. Paul added that Punk asked the videographer specifically whether he was a part of Logan’s production team, but still doubted his involvement, causing him to close the elevator door on Kevin.
"If I see him in the Rumble today, I'll get him, I'll throw him over for you, I'm serious." Paul said. He added that there’s no chance someone who looks like Punk beats him.
CM Punk recounted the chaotic events from the Rumble on his Good Guy/Bad Guy appearance as his elimination by Paul resulted in a ringside brawl with Rollins and Reigns.
"I think tensions run high and emotions are out of control when you get thrown out of the Royal Rumble, and I think the easiest thing to do in moments like that is to lash out and start slapping the first person you see.” he said.
In his blog, Logan Paul also said that he felt a bit betrayed by John Cena, who tossed him out of the ring. He mentioned he looked up to Cena his entire life and recalled the two doing his “Impaulsive” show. He then questioned how they didn’t foster a stronger bond after it.
The rumor mill has mostly dismissed the idea of Paul and Cena facing each other in WrestleMania 41 in April. However, with Logan’s blog being titled “John Cena Betrayed Me”, it feels like there’s a chance we might get to see the matchup after all.
In the Royal Rumble post-show press conference, Triple H said that nobody knows what’s planned for the April show. This could mean that all the talk about Cena vs. Rhodes may not be true.
