Michel Prazeres Went Through Series Of Personal Issues Prior To UFC Fight Night Belem

Michel Prazeres picked up a decision win over Desmond Green at UFC Fight Night Belem, despite missing weight for the event.

Missing weight would be the least of the fighters issues leading into the event, which included his pregnant wife suffering a miscarriage and the passing of the Brazilian’s brother.

5 Key Things in MMA – What to Expect During the Fall Season

“I had several problems during this camp,” Prazeres told MMA Fighting. “My wife lost our baby in the fourth month of pregnancy, had to do a curettage when I was going to the UFC hotel on fight week, so I had to go to the hospital with her again. My brother… He was not my brother, but we treated him as a brother because he was raised by my parents and lived in our house since I was five years old. My parents took care of him. He died in an accident, when a bus hit him while he was riding a bicycle. It was a very troubling camp for me, and only God knows how my heart was.”

Despite the issues leading into the event, one thing Prazares wouldn’t do is use them as excuses for missing weight.

Prazeres would also like to step back into the Octagon as soon as possible.

“I want to fight as soon as possible,” Prazeres said. “I’ll fight whoever they give me.”

The fighter is currently riding a six fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over three years.
