When it came time for the main event, it was a signature performance from both men as they played to their strengths, with Nate's forward pressure causing problems for Masvidal time and again. Masvidal, much like throughout his MMA career looked to land a big shot on Diaz's chin. However, the forward pressure by Diaz would prove to be the difference as he took home a majority decision victory with the judges scoring the fight 95-95, 97-93 and 98-92 respectively.

Diaz noted in his post fight interview that he wants to beat Jake Paul and return to the UFC to prove that he's the best fighter in the world.

Diaz and Masvidal previously met at UFC 244, with Masvidal earning the victory by doctor's stoppage.
