Omari Akhmedov vs. Marvin Vettori Set For UFC 219

A welterweight division attraction has been added to next month’s UFC 219 card as Omari Akhmedov is going to be in action against Marvin Vettori.

Akhmedov (17-4-0) enters the fight on the strength of a two bout winning streak, defeating Kyle Noke and Abdul Razak Alhassan. Akhmedov returns to a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in almost three years, with UFC 182 being the last time he appeared on such a card. Akhmedov has seen five of his seven UFC fights make it to the third round, with the competitor having a 3-2-0 record in those contests.

Vettori (12-3-0) has won two of three fights under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Alberto Emiliano Pereira and Vitor Miranda. Vettori also competed in the Venator Fighting Championships promotion, where he holds a win over UFC veteran Igor Araujo. Vettori has earned eight of his twelve wins as a professional MMA fighter by submission, including his UFC debut at UFC 202.

UFC 219 takes place on Saturday, December 30 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
