Paige VanZant made her flyweight division debut at UFC Fight Night St. Louis and suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jessica-Rose Clark.
Besides getting at the event, a slumping VanZant also suffered a broken arm after nailing Clark with a spinning back fist. The fighter would go onto compete two more rounds against Clark with the broken arm.
VanZant has now posted a video through Fancy Combat saying that she’ll need surgery on the broken arm:
Here is a transcript of what VanZant said in the video:
“Looks like I’m going to need surgery. So I go in on Monday (January 22). Wish me luck. Send some prayers up. And now I’m going to go sympathy shot. Thank you, guys, for all your support. I love all my fans out there. I’ll be back strong than ever, this time with a bionic arm.”
There is no word on when VanZant will compete again, but more should be known once the surgery is complete on Monday.
The competitor has won just one of her last four under the UFC banner and the fighter hasn’t earned a victory in just about two years.
