Cory Sandhagen will replace UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, and face former champion Petr Yan in an interim title fight at UFC 267 on October 30 in Abu Dhabi.
ESPN's Brett Okamoto was the first to report the news and confirmed the matchup with UFC President Dana White. Sandhagen is filling in for the injured Sterling, who still is recovering and making progress from April neck surgery. The 29-year old Aurora, Colorado native is coming off of a split-decision loss to former UFC bantamweight champion, T.J. Dillashaw, back at UFC Vegas 32 in his last appearance. Yan on the other hand is hoping to rebound from a frustrating fight in his last Octagon outing, where he was disqualified in the fourth round for throwing an illegal knee against Sterling at UFC 259, causing him to lose the UFC bantamweight title.
